Patient Status Board

Patient Status Board

PrimeRx™ now brings visible organization to the pharmacy waiting area with a Patient Status Board, that lets patients know when prescriptions are ready for pick-up at the pharmacy counter. Patients can easily track their place in the prescription-fill queue by viewing the Patient Status Board display over a monitor placed in the waiting area.   The Patient Status Board will display the patient’s name and the number of Rx(s) available, along with the current date, weather, and any banners/ads from the pharmacy.

How Does It Work

An Rx bin (bin management) is created for the patient display. Any Rx(s) added to this bin will appear on the patient display and will remain on the screen until the Rx(s) is flagged as picked up, or manually removed from the bin. (All Rx flagged as picked up will be removed from the Rx bin).

What is Needed:

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) sets the standard for sensitive patient data protection. Companies that deal with protected health information (PHI) must have in place an appropriate physical network, along with accompanying security measures to ensure HIPAA compliance.  To help ensure compliance, we suggest installing anti-malware and anti-virus software protection on your pharmacy computers. We also recommend using a separate PC and monitor for the Patient Status Board program (i.e. not linked to the PrimeRx™ computer system). The reason for this is to avoid the risk of inadvertently displaying patient medical information.*

Since the Patient Status Board monitor will be facing the patient waiting area, a misdirected key stroke by the pharmacist could cause PHI to appear on screen.  By keeping the PrimeDISPLAY/Patient Status Board PC completely separate from the PrimeRx™ pharmacy management system, a pharmacy can eliminate this risk.
